Statement of the Embassy of Japan regarding the detention of Nadiya Savchenko

1. Japan is deeply concerned regarding the health condition of Nadiya Savchenko, a Ukrainian pilot and a member of the Rada, who has been detained in Russia since 2014.
2. Japan has been calling on all the parties involved to fully implement the “Package of measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements” which includes the release of all hostages and illegally detained persons. This call has been addressed at every level, which includes the Foreign Minister and Prime Minister. Japan emphasizes that Nadiya Savchenko is also part of these measures.
3. In this connection, Japan appeals for the immediate release of Nadiya Savchenko and continues to urge all relevant parties to comply with the commitments made in the “Package of measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements.”
