Ceremony of planting sakura trees was held in St. Mykhaylo Golden Dome Monastery

  On 27th April Ambassador Sumi with his wife participated in the ceremony of planting sakura trees at the St. Mykhaylo Golden Dome Monastery along with His Holiness Patriarch Filaret of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kiev.
  His Holiness Patriarch Filaret expressed his appreciation for the donation of sakura trees to the monastery which represents Ukraine. His Holiness commented that these cherry trees are the symbol of friendship between our two countries, as well as it is a sign for further enhancement of them. Ambassador Sumi gave a short outline about St. Nikolai, who introduced the Orthodox Christianity to Japan, and stated that as a friend of Ukraine, Japan will continue to support Ukraine's reform in the future.
