  On November 25th Ambassador of Japan Shigeki Sumi in the Republic of Moldova hosted the reception on the occasion of the 82nd birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, Akihito at a hotel in Chisinau.
  The reception was attended by H.E. Mr. I. SULA, Minister for Agriculture and Food Industry, H.E. Ms. M.BABUC, Minister for Culture, and other Moldovan government officials, representatives of diplomatic corps, business circles, researchers and experts of various higher educational institutions and many more.
  An “Ikebana”, Japanese flower arrangement, was displayed at the venue and traditional Japanese cuisine, sushi, was demonstrated by the Ambassador’s chef to introduce charms and culture of Japan to the Moldovan people.
  Ambassador SUMI introduced, to the audience, the initial staff of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Moldova, which is planned to be opened next January.
  During the reception the Certificate of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation was presented to the Foundation for Moldovan-Japanese Relations to express respect and appreciation for its endeavors to promote mutual understanding between the Republic of Moldova and Japan.
