Opening ceremony of Ukiyo-e Exhibition “World of Kabuki”

   On January 20th this year the opening ceremony of Ukiyo-e Exhibition “World of Kabuki”, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine, was held at the National Art Museum of Ukraine.
   In his welcoming speech Ambassador Sumi told that traditional Japanese engraving Ukiyo-e had a great influence on the impressionists of the 19th century and has been highly appreciated in the world. He also said, that he would be very happy to introduce the splendor of Japanese painting art to as many people as possible.
   This time around 100 Ukiyo-e pictures from the National Art Museum collection are released to the public, centering on kabuki actors pictures. More than 250 guests as well as mass media representatives were present at the opening ceremony. The embassy received many good reactions from the visitors, underlining the unique style of this painting art. 
   This exhibition is held till February 19th and later on in March it is going to be held at the Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv.
