Ambassador Kurai took part in the signing ceremony of the Agreement for Japan's Grant Aid “the Economic and Social Development Programme”

On January 28, Ambassador Kurai took part in the signing ceremony of the Agreement for Japan’s Grant Aid “the Economic and Social Development Programme”. The relevant Notes were signed and exchanged by Ambassador Kurai and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kuleba, herewith the Government of Japan will grant JPY 200,000,000 (approximately USD 1.82 million) for the purchase of medical equipment.
Medical equipment such as a MRI scanner will be introduced to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to strengthen the infection prevention measures and the public health and medical system in Ukraine.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Kurai explained how MRI could contribute to ensuring the most appropriate treatments for not only the COVID-19-infected patients, but also the border guards who work at the front of the fight against COVID-19 day and night, as well as all the Ukrainian citizens, by accurately detecting other possible diseases. Also, Ambassador Kurai reiterated that Japan would continue providing necessary support for Ukraine.
Minister Kuleba expressed his appreciation for Japan’s continuous support for Ukraine’s reforms and measures against COVID-19.
