Ambassador Kurai paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Shmyhal

     On September 23, Ambassador Kurai paid a visit to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on the occasion of completion of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
     Prime Minister Shmyhal highly evaluated the activities that Ambassador Kurai has carried out for the development of bilateral relations between Japan and Ukraine, and expressed his sincere gratitude for Japan's support for economic development and democratic reforms in Ukraine. Furthermore, he congratulated Japan for its successful hosting of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer, despite the difficulties related to the coronavirus pandemic.
     In turn, Ambassador Kurai appreciated the cooperation provided by Prime Minister Shmyhal during the Ambassador’s tenure. He reaffirmed Japan's position of supporting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and reiterated that Japan would continue to support Ukraine in future.
     Moreover, Prime Minister Shmyhal and Ambassador Kurai discussed several issues, including measures to increase investment from Japan to Ukraine.
