Reception on the Occasion of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan’s Birthday
On 26 February 2026, a reception to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor of Japan’s Birthday was held at a hotel in Kyiv. The reception was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Taras Kachka, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Brusylo, as well as other high-ranking officials from the Government and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In addition, the celebration was attended by representatives of military structures, diplomatic corps, business circles, academic institutions, as well as other distinguished guests from various fields.
In his welcome address, Ambassador Nakagome emphasized Japan’s comprehensive support for Ukraine and highlighted Ukraine’s participation at the World Expo held last year in Osaka, Kansai, Japan, which contributed to strengthening business ties. The Ambassador also underscored the importance of hosting the Ukraine Mine Action Conference (UMAC2025) in Tokyo and further deepening Japan–Ukraine relations across various areas of bilateral cooperation, including economy, reconstruction, culture, and sports.
Within the framework of the event, exhibition displays were organized with the participation of Japanese companies as well as Japanese governmental organizations such as JICA and JETRO. Furthermore, as part of the activities promoting Japanese culture, an exhibition of traditional Japanese arts was presented with the support of the Ukraine–Japan Center of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, along with the organization of a sake tasting and servings of Japanese cuisine.
