Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) has made efforts for more than 20 years to promote exchanges with Japan in a wide range of fields, including academic, cultural and economic fields. In 2003, KPI established the Ukrainian-Japanese Center. In addition, through concluding cooperation agreements with Japanese universities and research institutions, and in collaboration with companies, KPI has facilitated joint research and supported Japanese companies in entering the Ukrainian market. Furthermore, as the largest educational institution in Ukraine teaching the Japanese language, the Ukrainian-Japanese Center of KPI administers the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) and holds numerous events related to Japanese culture. In recent years, by actively hosting Japanese public and private missions visiting Ukraine in wartime conditions, KPI has contributed to the promotion of mutual understanding and friendly relations between the two countries even under difficult circumstances. In recognition of this significant contribution, it has been decided to award KPI the Foreign Minister’s Commendation.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in Ukraine from autumn onward.
