Ceremony of Commissioning of the Modernized Kyiv Metro Cars

On October 13, 2015, the Ceremony of commissioning of the modernized Kyiv metro cars was held. It was attended by the Ambassador of Japan in Ukraine Shigeki Sumi and Kyiv City Mayor Vitaliy Klychko. Modernization of metro cars is the largest project implemented to achieve energy efficiency in Ukraine with the financial support from Japan provided within the Green Investment Scheme (GIS), as a part of the international emission trading system. In addition to the 95 cars modernized last year, 25 metro cars were newly upgraded.
Ambassador Sumi expressed with great pleasure that in total 120 cars modernized with the use of Japanese technologies allowing to save around 40% of energy, will be put into operation. Kyiv City Mayor Vitaliy Klychko noted that not only will the residents of Kyiv benefit from the modernization of metro cars, but the burden of Kyiv metro employees will be lightened. He expressed sincere gratitude to Japan and Ambassador Sumi.
The ceremony was attended by many stakeholders and media representatives; they also had the opportunity to test new cars and deepen their knowledge of Japanese technologies.
