Ambassador Sumi’s visit to Chernivtsi

On November 12, 2015, the Ambassador of Japan in Ukraine Mr. Shigeki Sumi and his wife visited Starokostyantyniv District Hospital in the Khmelnytskyi region, which received support under the Grassroots Grant Assistance Program. Ambassador Sumi was kindly welcomed by Mr. Volodymyr Stihariev, Chief Doctor of the hospital, and Ms. Liudmyla Nebesna, Head of the Healthcare Department of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration; they explained how the endoscopy system provided by Japan is currently being used. After the equipment inspection, Ambassador Sumi and his wife partook in a dinner hosted by Mr. Stihariev.
On November 13, 2015, Ambassdor Sumi and his wife went to Chernivtsi city and held a meeting with Mr. Oleksandr Fyshchuk, Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, and Mr. Oleksii Kaspruk, City Mayor of Chernivtsi, in order to exchange views regarding cooperation with Japan. In addition, Mr. and Mrs. Sumi visited Chernivtsi National University, which is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Representatives of the University expressed desire to promote its collaboration with Japan.
