Around 1,000 people attended the event.
Ambassador Sumi mentioned in his welcoming speech that this year also marks the fifth anniversary of the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and thanked Ukraine for its support after this tragedy. Ambassador Sumi expressed his best wishes for the Forum to have fruitful discussions on issues of safety of nuclear power plants and management of radioactive wastes around the world.
Following the welcoming remarks of various guests, a number of experts in nuclear energy and science and technology, including the former Ambassador Sakata, delivered lectures during the thematic sessions.
