On July 2, 2016 Ambassador of Japan Shigeki Sumi held a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko and the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Khatia Dekanoidze.
Minister Avakov thanked Japan for the assistance provided for implementing police reform in Ukraine and expressed eagerness to learn about the Japanese police system, namely the police box system, and decentralization in Japan.
