Ambassador and Mrs. Sumi held meeting with Ukrainian President and Mrs. Petro Poroshenko

On September 3, 2016 at the Residence of the Ambassador and Mrs. Sumi, a working dinner was held with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his wife and the former Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Borys Lozhkin (now Chairman of the National Investment Council of Ukraine and adviser to the President) and his spouse.
The fact of the visit of Mr. & Mrs. Poroshenko as well as of Mr. & Mrs. Lozhkin to the Residence of the Japanese Ambassador is a great honour, and is testimony of the closest Japanese-Ukrainian ties ever in the history of these relations.
The past and present of Japanese-Ukrainian relations as well as the very valuable thoughts of the President on the current situation in Ukraine were voiced at the working dinner. President Poroshenko expressed his gratitude for Japan's position on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, sanctions imposed against Russia and for comprehensive support for Ukraine. In his turn, Ambassador Sumi promised to make every possible effort for the sake of strengthening Japanese-Ukrainian relations.
