Deputy Head of Mission Michio Harada participated in Sakura Planting Ceremony in NTUU “KPI”

On April 12 Deputy Head of Mission, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine Michio Harada participated in the Sakura Planting Ceremony, which was held on the premises of the National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI”, and planted 10 sakura trees together with the Rector of the University Mykhailo Zgurovskyi.
The Minister-Counsellor explained that around 1 000 sakura trees are planned to be planted in different cities of Ukraine in close cooperation with JTI Ukraine. Furthermore, he spoke about the Sakura 2500 Campaign aiming at planting 2500 sakura trees in Ukraine in commemoration of the 25 anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Japan and Ukraine.
In turn, Mykhailo Zgurovskyi noted that 2017 was declared as the Year of Japan in Ukraine. He said it was a great pleasure to plant sakura trees, which are a symbol of Japan, on the premises of the University. The Rector also said he would like to see how these sakura trees provided by Japan will grow in ten or twenty years and expressed hopes for further development of relations between Japan and Ukraine.
