On June 21 Ambassador Sumi, together with the Minister of Information Policy Yurii Stets, Chairman of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (NPBU) Zurab Alasania, Leader of the JICA Project Keiichi Hashimoto and Leader of the Expert Team of NHK International Atsushi Miyao, participated in a press conference on the “Project for Capacity Development of Public Service Broadcaster of Ukraine” organized by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
Under the project, it is planned to strengthen the NPBU’s ability of equipment operation and maintenance, as well as support the establishment of a press system during emergency situations and natural disasters, through dispatching experts of NHK International to Ukraine, accepting Ukrainian trainees and providing necessary equipment.
Ambassador Sumi conveyed his expectations that after the completion of this 2-year project, under which experience and knowledge of the Japan’s public broadcaster NHK will be utilized, Ukrainians will have a public service broadcaster they can trust.
