Judo Seminars by Japanese Judo Champion Yasuyuki Muneta

On December 6-8, a judo champion Yasuyuki Muneta (Japanese National Police Agency, in 2003 became world champion in the +100 kg division, in 2007 became world champion in the open division) visited Ukraine to give seminars in Kyiv and Dnipro, and also paid courtesy visits to Chief of Ukrainian National Police Serhiy Knyazev and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Mykola Movchan.
This event was held within the SPORT FOR TOMORROW program, which is an international contribution through sport initiative jointly implemented by public and private sectors, which promotes sport to more than 10 million people in over 100 nations until 2020, the year when Tokyo will host the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. 1) Judo seminar at Specialized Children and Youth Olympic Reserve School of Judo, Kyiv
Around 100 Ukrainian athletes and cauches gathered for a 2 hour judo seminar. The participants followed Yasuyuki Muneta`s guidance enthusiastically and seemed to be actively engaged in practice, asking a lot of questions and training with interest.

2) Courtesy visit to Chief of Ukrainian National Police Serhiy Knyazev
Chief of Ukrainian National Police Serhiy Knyazev warmly welcomed Yasuyuki Muneta, and mentioned that cooperation between Japan and Ukraine is on a very high level now, and he hopes that such cooperation will continue in future as well. Moreover, Yasuyuki Muneta`s deep knowledge and rich judo experience will be extremely useful in Ukrainian police training.

3) Judo seminar for local police officials
A Judo seminar was held for 15 police officials. Participants seemed to be interested in basic judo movements, although they did not have full-fledged judo experience.

Around 60 judo athletes and coaches gathered for a seminar at Olympic Centre ‘Koncha Zaspa’. There were many children, so the seminar was held in cheerful and playful manner.

We explained the outline of Sport for Tomorrow, and Deputy Minister expressed his deep interest in this topic, and emphasized that it would be wonderful to participate in such program and he would think on what could be done for that.

A judo seminar also was held at Specialized Children and Youth Olympic Reserve School of Judo in Dnipro. As Dnipro is the city where Domestic Judo tournaments are held, and where judo is best developed, around 125 athletes and couches partook in the seminar, and more than 200 spectators were also present.
