Ambassador Sumi and his spouse attend first tea ceremony of the year

On February 4, a “hatsugama”, the first tea ceremony of the year, was held at the Ukraine-Japan Center by a group of Ukrainians, belonging to the Japanese tea ceremony school Urasenke. Ambassador Sumi and his spouse attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, guests were served not only tea, but a traditional Japanese multi-course dinner – kaiseki and traditional Japanese sweets – wagashi. Moreover, especially for the guests there was an explanation of the hatsugama tradition and Japanese New Year celebration.
