Ambassador Sumi held a working dinner with the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak

On May 4 Ambassador Sumi held a working dinner with the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ostap Semerak at his residence. From the Ukrainian side the dinner was also attended by the Head of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management Vitalii Petruk and the Director General of the State Specialized Enterprise "Ecocentre" Serhii Kirieiev.
The dinner was organized in the framework of the “Project for Strengthening of the Environmental Radiation Control and Legislative Basis for the Environmental Remediation of Radioactively Contaminated Sites” implemented under the Japan’s SATREPS program (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development) since 2017, and took place prior to the Minister’s visit to Japan on May 10-17, 2018.
In addition to the progress of the above-mentioned project, the sides exchanged views regarding the current status and future prospects for the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the exclusion zone.
