Presentation and reception to promote tourism to Japan

　 On May 29 Ambassador Sumi and his wife held a presentation to promote tourism to Japan, which was followed by a reception at the Ambassador’s residence. The event was organized mainly for those related to the tourism sphere, including representatives of travel agencies and airline companies. The presentation was attended by around 60 people, including the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Mykhailo Titarchuk, who is also responsible for the sphere of tourism, Deputy Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova and the Head of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group “Ukraine-Japan” Leonid Yemets. Furthermore, during the presentation delivered by the Director of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Moscow Office Airi Motokura, many participants were taking notes seriously.

 　In his speech, Ambassador Sumi said that the number of tourists visiting Japan has increased due to the simplification of visa requirements for Ukrainians applied in January this year and conveyed his expectations that it will continue to grow after the presentation held. The Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Mykhailo Titarchuk and the Head of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group “Ukraine-Japan” Leonid Yemets welcomed the simplification of visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens and expressed hopes that not only the number of Ukrainian tourists, but also the number of Japanese tourists visiting Ukraine will increase.

　 Presentations delivered by the Embassy staff, representatives of the JNTO Moscow Office and one of the Ukrainian companies conducting tours to Japan provided information regarding the current situation of tourist visits in Ukraine, as well as a model tour to Japan. During the reception, the participants were actively exchanging view and information, which made the event a great success.
