On September 24 Ambassador Sumi participated in a seminar on promotion of Ukrainian honey export to Japan.
In his speech, Ambassador Sumi said it was highly likely that Ukrainian honey would be accepted in the Japanese market and conveyed expectations that sales would increase in future. He also mentioned that when he personally handed the honey produced by Kato Brothers Honey Co. Ltd to President Poroshenko during the meeting in July, the President was extremely pleased to learn that Ukrainian honey is being sold in Japan.
Japan started importing honey from Ukraine in 2015, and since 2017, Kato Brothers Honey Co. Ltd has been manufacturing and selling Ukrainian honey to consumers.
