Ambassador Sumi visited Kharkiv

  On September 28 and 29, Ambassador Sumi visited Kharkiv region. He was accompanied by representatives of five Japanese companies.

1. Meeting with the Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration

  On September 28 Ambassador Sumi held a meeting with the Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Yuliya Svitlychna, during which he spoke about the assistance projects Japan has been implementing in Kharkiv region (support provided to the Kharkiv Regional Hospice, Ukrainian Research Institute for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation, National Opera and Ballet Theater), as well as business cooperation between the Japanese and Ukrainian companies. Furthermore, the representatives of Japanese companies, who also participated in this meeting, discussed the possibility of business cooperation with Kharkiv region, particularly in the IT field.
  In turn, Yuliya Svitlychna thanked Ambassador Sumi for participating in the Kharkiv International Economic Forum for the second year in a row and expressed her sincere gratitude for Japan’s assistance provided to Kharkiv region.

2. Visit to a company

  Ambassador Sumi held a meeting and exchanged views with representatives of the company I3DESIGN, which is developing software in cooperation with Japanese companies. Later Ambassador Sumi paid a visit to the Kharkiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry, during which he received an explanation about the investment environment and trade trends in Kharkiv region.

3. Participation in the 10th International Economic Forum

  On September 29 Ambassador Sumi attended the 10th Kharkiv International Economic Forum. He delivered a speech at the Plenary Session of the Forum and explained about the situation with Japanese companies’ investment in Ukraine, possibilities for business cooperation with small and medium-sized Japanese enterprises. Furthermore, Ambassador Sumi also welcomed the establishment of language courses for IT students at Ukrainian universities.
