Ambassador Sumi spoke at the opening ceremony of the “Japan Day”

  On September 7, Ambassador Sumi spoke at the opening ceremony of the “Japan Day”, an event devoted to Japanese culture, which was held at the KPI University in Kyiv. 
  During the welcome speech Ambassador Sumi noted that organizing these kinds of events is important to support and enlarge the interest towards Japan that had risen during the Year of Japan in Ukraine. He said that the best way to gain understanding of Japan is to go to Japan and noted that starting from January 2018 the visa issuing procedures for Ukrainian citizens had become simpler. Ambassador Sumi said he hopes that now more Ukrainians will be able to visit Japan.
  During the event a demonstration of Japanese martial arts was held and various exhibitions took place. About 10 000 people visited the event in the course of the 2 days (September 7 and 8). Also the Japan Foundation’s international touring exhibition “100 objects of contemporary Japanese design” was opened and will last until October 5.
