Statement on so-called "elections" held by "DPR" and "LPR"

1. The Government of Japan does not tolerate any attempts to change the status quo by force, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
2. The so-called "elections" held on November 11 by "DPR" and "LPR" were not regulated by the Minsk Agreements as well as law and regulations of Ukraine. The Government of Japan does not recognize these "elections" as legitimate.
3. The complete implementation of the Minsk Agreements by all the concerned parties is necessary for the improvement of the situation, and the elections in the temporarily occupied territories should be conducted in accordance with the Minsk Agreements as well as law and regulations of Ukraine.
