7/3/2019
On March 7 Ambassador Kurai and his wife held a reception to promote tourism to Japan, during which the judo world champion Daria Bilodid was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for tourism. The event was attended by around 70 participants, including the Minister of Youth and Sport of Ukraine Ihor Zhdanov, and covered by media, such as Japan’s NHK News.
In his speech, Ambassador Kurai said that the number of tourists visiting Japan has increased by 30% due to the simplification of visa requirements for Ukrainians applied in January 2018 and conveyed his expectations that it will continue to grow after the event. In turn, Minister Zhdanov said that preparing for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, he would like to deepen the relationship between Japan and Ukraine through sports. In addition, Daria Bilodid said that it is a great honour for her to be appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador of Tourism.
During the reception, the participants were actively exchanging view and information, which made the event a great success.
