Ambassador Sumi participated in the opening ceremony of the plant of Fujikura Automotive Ukraine

On April 14, 2016 Ambassador Sumi participated and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the new plant of Fujikura Automotive Ukraine, established in Lviv. A Japanese diplomat noted that the opening of this new plant was discussed on many occasions during the official visit of the President of Ukraine Mr. Petro Poroshenko to Japan from May 5-7, 2016. The diplomat also stated that Ukraine has very educated and skilled workers, and that the EU-Ukraine Agreement on Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area will encourage investment in Ukraine.
President Poroshenko also participated in the ceremony. During his speech he expressed gratitude for Japan’s assistance and stressed the importance of political stability and development in the business environment for inviting further investments. Additionally, Senior Vice President and Member of the Board Mr. Akira Sasagawa delivered a speech on behalf of Fujikura Ltd.
After the speeches, Ambassador Sumi, President Poroshenko and Senior Vice President Sasagawa together pressed the button which activated a conveyer belt. The ceremony was a great success and was attended by hundreds of plant workers, whom held the flags of Ukraine and Japan in their hands.
