On April 30, at the Ministry of Regional Development, Ambassador of Japan Shigeki Sumi announced the provision of assistance for the recovery of eastern Ukraine and together with the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Mr. Hennadii Zubko, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Mr. Pavlo Rozenko, and representatives of UNDP (United Nations Development Programme), UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund), IOM (International Organization for Migration) and IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) participated in the signing ceremony of two UNDP projects that will be implemented jointly with the Ministry of Regional Development and the Ministry of Social Policy.
Japan-funded projects amounting to around USD 16.6 million aiming to improve the livelihoods of IDPs through employment opportunities and access to essential social services in eastern Ukraine. All projects will be implemented through the above-mentioned international organizations.
