On February 3, 2015, Japan-Ukraine Energy Security Seminar was held in Kyiv by the Japan Coal Energy Center (JCOAL), Institute of Energy Economics, Japan and Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine. Mr. Shigeki Iwai, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, and Mr. Shigeki Sumi, Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine, participated in the seminar from the Japanese side, while the Ukrainian side was represented by Mr. Yuriy Zyukov, First Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry.
The seminar was organized to present the energy policy, Japanese experience and technologies in coal-fired power generation, as well as to ensure further cooperation with Ukraine. Around 90 people participated in the event from both sides, and a strong interest in Japanese assistance in the energy sector could be observed.
Parliamentary Vice-Minister Mr. Shigeki Iwai assured that Japan would continue to support Ukraine in strengthening the energy security. He also held a meeting with Mr. Yuriy Zyukov, First Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.
