Marking the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Japan and Ukraine Results of the «Sakura 2500 Campaign»

1. In the framework of the Year of Japan in Ukraine marking the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Embassy of Japan has been implementing a sakura planting project in close cooperation with the company JTI Ukraine. In the period from the beginning of April to November 17, 800 trees were planted in 22 Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa and others. Furthermore, in the framework of the «Campaign 2500 Sakuras», which encouraged Ukrainians to plant sakura trees on their own, another 800 trees were planted as of November 17, which means almost 1600 trees in total planted in around 30 places all over Ukraine.

2. The information on the cities where the trees were planted is presented on the map below. Furthermore, a list of the cities participating in the project can be found under the map. Click on a city name to see photos from official planting ceremonies.

3. We hope you will enjoy the beautiful blossom of the trees planted every year starting with the coming spring. The Embassy of Japan expresses its sincere gratitude to the company JTI, city mayors and other representatives of local authorities who participated in the campaign.
